Do you have objectives like Black Tusk, Sky Pilot, or Tricouni on your list? If they are but you don't quite feel confident enough in 3rd & 4th class terrain or in navigation & route assessment, this is the course for you! Taught by experienced ACMG guides who have spent their careers scaling technical peaks you are sure to walk away with more confidence in your abilities. Day 1 will be spent working on skill development and day 2 we will put those skills to the test!


Hiking experience, ability to hike for 6 hours per day.

Highlight skills: 

Navigation, Alpine Hazard Management, Snow Travel, Route Assessment, 3rd and 4th Class Management.

  • 2 full days of instruction with ACMG guide

  •  You may have to purchase 1 day pass for either Whistler Blackcomb or the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish. 

This course is great for anyone who likes to hike on single-track trails and exploring the mountains.

No previous mountaineering experience

The goal of this course to have you feeling comfortable summiting 3rd or 4th class mountains. Learn how to manage alpine hazards, move fast over off-trail terrain, manage rockfall hazards and navigate properly.
