You've already gotten a few turns in, the stoke is high, but you want to bring your backcountry experience to the next level. Join us for four days of sessions and clinics with ACMG certified guides and ramp up your skills.

The Clinics

All clinics and tours will be lead by Altus Mountain Guides and joined by local pros. Guides are of the highest caliber available to get you dialed and ready for your next backcountry trip!

Clinics run Thursday through Sunday, ranging from Introductory to Advanced.

 

All clinic participants will receive access for our Altus Online Learning platform for their respective courses.

Courses take place in the Whistler/Blackcomb Backcountry or Pemberton Backcountry.

Unless stated, all courses require a Whistler Blackcomb pass. If you do not have a Whistler Blackcomb Season's Pass, Epic Pass or Edge Card, please purchase a Whistler Blackcomb Backcountry Day pass at check out for $59/day.

Intermediate

Just what to do if someone falls in a crevasse. This clinic will teach the principles of crevasse rescue in the ski and mountaineering setting.  We will focus on lightweight rope kits as well as conventional systems.

Glacier Travel

Intermediate

Glacier travel is a vital piece of the alpine skiing puzzle. Learn how to assess glaciers properly, find a safe line, and keep your team safe. We'll also cover glaciology, route finding, bergschrund management, what the word bergschrund means, and how to rope up for glacier travel.

Navigation and Route Planning

Believe it or not, south coast touring FB pages isn't the only place to get beta on where to ski! Learn how to read a map, examine terrain, and how weather moves through terrain to find the best zones. Most importantly: we'll cover how to find your way around this terrain once you are in it.

Advanced

Expand your knowledge of snowpack assessment and snow tests, and learn how to apply that information to your ski line selection. This clinic serves to help skiers use advanced snow observations to strengthen their decision-making in avalanche terrain.
