5 day – Whistler Ski Touring

Ever wonder why ski films so often showcase the Whistler area? The varied terrain combined with stable snow conditions make the Coast Range a mecca for ski mountaineering. Most of the winter it is possible to find large alpine peaks and faces to safely climb and ski. Our Whistler ski mountaineering trip is perfect for skiers looking to truly explore the Coast Mountains and get deep into backcountry and untouched snow.
Beginner to Advanced. Good fitness is required as you can expect to travel up hill on skis 2000 – 7000ft (depending on fitness). On our Whistler ski mountaineering trips we typically aim for large travel days with objectives of high peaks and more involved ski descents. Good ski ability is required. Summer mountaineering/climbing is an asset.

This is a sample itinerary. With our 5 days trips we have lots of options for destination and trips to better suit your desires and the current conditions/weather.
Day 0: Meet in Whistler in evening to discuss trip objectives and sort gear.
Day 1: 8am take ski hill lifts up Blackcomb peak and into the backcountry. Lots of option in the adjacent backcountry off Blackcomb resort from glacier ski runs to alpine peaks or couloirs.
Day 2: Travel north of whistler up on the Duffy Lake area. We will spend the day touring in high alpine in the Cerise creek area and overnight stay at the famous “keith’s hut” at the toe of the Anniversary glacier.
Day 3: Another alpine day skiing. Possible ski ascents/descent of Mt Matier and Mt Joffree, Mount Slalock. Back to Whistler for pm.
Day 4: Whistler/Blackcomb backcountry day. Heli drops are also possible this day to give ourselves that extra boost in to the alpine after 3 big days (additional surcharges exist)
Day 5: Whistler/Blackcomb backcountry day.
