Sport Climbing Course

Clipping Bolts and Crushing Rocks

Regardless of what type of climber you want to become: gym leader or trad, a background in sport climbing will give you the confidence to push above your protection, crank on steep routes.  The strength and technique gained in sport climbing will spill over into other objectives.  This is where we really start to see participants' ability to climb on their own outdoor to expand.

Our Sport Climbing course introduces climbers to lead climbing on single pitch sport climbs.  Safe leading technique, lead belaying, clipping techniques and anchor building are covered to set our participants up with the skills and confidence to climb sport routes everywhere.

  • Assessing anchors and protection bolts.
  • Safe leading + Safe belaying
  • How to fall
  • Cleaning sport anchors
  • Rappelling + Retreating

I contacted five companies about setting up a custom mountaineering trip and Altus immediately got back to me with all sorts of helpful, informative details. They were much easier and better to work with than all the other companies.

- Michele G

I felt safe and secure, and I learned a ton. Great objective, great weather, great food, and great company - it doesn't get any better than this! Can't wait to get back out there with the Altus guides - don't leave home without 'em!

- Nigel B
