Whistler Backcounty Skiing Course – Weekend



Description

On our, Weekend – Backcounty Skiing Course – Whistler, you will learn how to take your skiing experience to the next level.  We will introduce you to back country ski touring gear, travel techniques, avalanche awareness, route finding, route planning, without navigation and descent strategies.  Our courses are ran at a maximum 4:1 student to guide ratio to ensure each student will gain as much as possible from the course. Typically based in Whistler.

Itinerary

Day 0: Meet 5pm in whistler, where we will discuss the course objective and
go over pre trip planning. (optional)

Day 1: 8:30 rendezvous at Whistler base. Travel up Blackcomb or whistler depending on our pre trip plan and conditions. Topic will include: Advanced companion rescue, Terrain assessment, Track setting, Route planning, Avalanche stability assessment, Safe Travel, Safe skiing technique. 5pm Debrief the way in Whistler village

Day 2: 6:30 rendezvous at Lift coffee co where we will travel north on the highway past Pemberton to the Duffy lake road for a more remote ski objective. Today will be focused on using the skills we learnt on day 2 to complete are large backcountry ski ascent and descent. Course debrief in Whislter
