2 Day Advanced Ice
This two day Ice Climbing course is designed to set you up to get out ice climbing safely. After a good ice climbing technique session, learn the principles of ice protection, and try out a mock lead under the supervision of your instructor. The course typically runs around the Whistler Pemberton and Canmore areas.
This ice climbing course is a stepping-stone for anyone interested in leading ice on their own, or improving their mountaineering skills. Mountaineering or rock climbing experience is an asset.

What’s not included:
Personal equipment, including plastic mountaineering boots, warm clothes and ski gloves, lunch
Canadian Rockies: starting December
Whistler: mid December or January
Day 1: Meet your guide in Whistler or Canmore at 8am and organize equipment. Head off to one of the local practice areas for a full day’s introduction to ice climbing.
Day 2:meet at 8am at predetermined locations. Morning topics include: basic protection, lead climbing strategies, route selection, hazard mitigation, and climbing efficiency. pm: perform mock leads under your guide’s supervision.
