Challenge the Chief
Think you have the muscle to climb the Squamish chief? Prove it! Two days we will train you the skills of rock climbing and attempt to summit the Squamish Chief by the main face climbing route – Squamish Buttress. If you are successful you will be entered into the draw for a crack at an alpine summit attempt, climbing gear to get you started on your own personal climbing journey and $250 to spend with us on any further course.
Introduction to rock climbing skills and techniques in the Squamish Smoke bluff park.
The chief! With and early start we will head up the Squamish buttress route.
1100 ft of technical rock climbing to a 5.10 grade.
No prior rock climbing experience needed. Good fitness and upper body strength. You can expect to be physically active for 8-9hours. This weekend challenge is for anyone who enjoyed pushing their physical and mental limits

This course is run over 2 days of a weekend in the Squamish area. Venues include Murrin and Smoke Bluff park and of course the Squamish Chief!
Meeting at the Squamish adventure center 8:00 am. Climbing until 16:00.
Focusing on climbing techniques, rope work, belaying, communication.

Squamish Buttress: A historic Fred Beckey classic rock climb with 10 – 13 pitches no harder than 5.9 – 5.10c, the easiest technical rock climb up the Squamish Chief. Start on the moderate rock route of the Apron (up to 5.9) to warm up, then on to the final head wall.
Options exists either up a 5.10c corner or a 5.9 engaging face variation.
